Denise Mitchell, CMT was introduced to massage therapy in the late 1980's working as a physical therapy aid and exercise instructor in Napa, Ca. and Yosemite National Park. In 2000, she earned a BA from Sonoma State in both Women's and Gender Studies, and Anthropology.
In 2003, Denise attended Spa Luna Holistic School in Maui earning an esthetician license. The following year she attended the Institute of Conscious Bodywork in Marin County, obtaining her massage therapy certification, with a focus on pregnancy and deep tissue massage.
In 2006, Denise earned certificates in oncology massage through California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco and the Massage Therapy Institute in Davis. She has worked for various hospitals, such as Marin General Hospital and Tahoe Forest Hospital in Truckee, where she was instrumental in creating the Massage Therapy Program for the oncology patients.
When she is not practicing massage, Denise enjoys spending time with her son Peter, hiking the hills of Marin, camping in Yosemite, and skiing in Tahoe.
